Speaker A:Some of you may know me from my photography business, noblink Pictures, or you may have just seen me around the community. I've lived in Grand County, Kentucky for 40 years now, which is hard to believe really.
Over those years I've met so many wonderful people, but if I'm being honest, I've always struggled to let people in.
As an introvert, I've spent most of my life behind a camera or quietly watching somewhere in a corner, capturing moments but rarely stepping into the spotlight myself. Opening up, meeting new people and now putting my voice, and soon my face out into the world through this podcast and YouTube channel.
That's a huge, huge leap for me. It's way out of my comfort zone. I was born in Delaware and spent a few years in Georgia and then moved to Kentucky around the age of 10.
I think part of my challenge with connection started back then. I had just begun to make friends in Georgia when we moved in Kentucky.
I've had some amazing friendships, especially with the Greenville Road Gang, as we all like to call ourselves. But still, I've often kept people at arm's length. It was safer that way, familiar, quiet.
But now I'm 51, almost 52, and I've decided it's time to break those personal barriers. It's time to stop letting fear or shyness hold me back. I want to truly connect with the people around me and not just meet them.
I want to share their stories, celebrate their journeys and finally build real, real community. That's where We Are Grant county comes in. This podcast is my personal challenge and creative project rolled into one.
It's about sitting down with the people who give this place life. Our neighbors, leaders, dreamers, helpers and everyday heroes and sharing what makes them extraordinary. I'm not promising perfection.
I'll probably be nervous, maybe even a little awkward. But I promise to be honest, curious and fully present. And I'd love for you to come along along this ride with me.
And We Are Grant county can be found on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube, wherever you get your podcast. Our quarterly magazine, We Are Grant county will be in print throughout the county and online starting in October.
We also have a YouTube channel that will give you behind the scenes stories, interviews, community life. If something you hear resonates with you, I hope you share it.
This project means the world to me and the more people we reach, the more impact we can make. Thank you so much for listening. This journey is just beginning and I'm so grateful you are here with me.
